The Dental School is committed to achieving excellence in dental education and research training.

The Dental School incorporates the Oral Health Centre of WA.

The Oral Health Centre is a state of the art dental teaching and learning facility united with an oral health care clinic. It is the only institution in WA offering tertiary training in dentistry. 

Graduate

The primary graduate program of the Dental School is the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).  The DMD is a four year full-time professional degree course.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Pathway

Pathway to the MD or DMD for future applicants to the Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS)specialty

The OMS pathway provides an opportunity for domestic students who have completed a medical or dental degree to apply for the other degree (dentistry or medicine) as part of their preparation to become an OMS. 

The Dental School will be offering one place in the OMS pathway.

The prerequisites are:
•        Unrestricted registration and a Medicare Provider Number;
•        Minimum GPA of 5.0 based on the last three years of full time or equivalent study in the MBBS or BDSc (or equivalents) 

Applicants who fulfil the prerequisites should complete the following application form and submit a structured personal statement as outlined on the application form.

NOTE:    This pathway does not guarantee a place in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons OMS training program.  There are separate entry requirements into such programs.

Honours

The Bachelor of Science in Dentistry Honours (BScDent) is a one year full time course comprising a structured program of advanced study and research.

Postgraduate

The School offers postgraduate coursework programs.  The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent)  is a 3 year full time program designed to lead to specialist registration in a chosen specialist area of dentistry.  The specialist areas on offer are Endodontics, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Paediatric Dentistry. 

The School also offers research programs, including the Master of Science in Dentistry (MScDent) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), in a wide variety of subject areas.
