The Australian Dental Association (ADA) is “an organisation of dentists which has as its aim the encouragement of the health of the public and the promotion of the art and science of dentistry."
The School of Dentistry is pleased to partner with the Australian Dental Association (WA Branch) in providing high level continuing professional development as part of the WA Dental CPD Committee.
Through the Committee, the School promotes within UWA, and to the dental profession, continuing dental education, clinical excellence, as well as dental and oral research relevant to the profession.
The new collaborative effort between the ADAWA and School of Dentistry is a testament to both organisations’ commitment to quality professional development. On behalf of the School, I would like to praise ADAWA Council, Executive and the Director of CPD for their willingness to explore new avenues of collaboration, novel courses, and innovative approaches in dental continuing education. The School is committed to achieving excellence, and I am sure that the new CPD collaboration will position the School’s educational offerings in good stead moving forward. Our desire to join forces with ADAWA will be to the benefit of all members. Ultimately, we are committed to serving our local community and the advancement of dentistry.

The School’s Annual Research Day showcases the breadth and strength of its research programs.
Research programs are defined as large collaborative research projects, which typically are researched by teams consisting of senior and junior academics, postdoctoral research fellows, and Higher Degree Research and Doctor of Dental Medicine students. Each researcher investigates an aspect of a larger problem with their insights contributing to the resolution of the larger problem under the coordination and guidance of the Research Program Leader. The research leader’s role in formulating the research program, managing the team’s research, and drawing together the threads of the answer are critical.
The School currently supports Research Programs which include:
In 2017, the School’s Annual Research Day will be held on Friday 30th June at the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research, and will attract 8 hours of CPD.
