The Centre for Research Excellence in Primary Oral Health Care (CRE) was formed through a collaboration of researchers from three Australian universities (Adelaide, Tasmania, and Western Australia). The CRE is funded with a grant of $2.5 million over 4 years as part of the Australian Primary Health Care Institute of the Australian National University (ANU) with financial support from the Australian Department of Health and Ageing. The Centre brings together the strengths of each of the chief investigators to focus on the four themes of oral health research highlighted as priority areas in the Australian National Oral Health Plan (2004-2013): aged care, rural/remote oral health, Aboriginal oral health, and that of intellectually and physically disabled people.
